Foreword
Finding help for trans* issues in Queensland can be difficult if you don’t know where to look. This brochure is designed to provide a resource for people who don’t know where and how to access help about issues evolving from their trans* status.
In this brochure you will find the contact details for five organisations helping trans* people across Queensland. There are many more organisations than those listed here, but these may provide a first step.
Help is not far away, so if you are struggling with your trans* status, reach out for help today.
Changeling Aspects

Changeling Aspects presents a website that summarises community views by drawing on detail from Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the World.
It provides practical, high level advice that reflects the broad range of health consumers from real life experiences, and also analyses, plans and communicates across a wide range of government and community health-related stakeholders.
Changeling Aspects submits many papers and submissions to state and federal governmental bodies and is actively involved in seeking to remove the requirement for surgery before recognition.

This is a non-profit community-based legal service. It provides community legal education activities and resources, and is actively involved in law reform. It provides legal advice and information to clients who have problems arising from their LGBTI status.

Managed by trans* for trans*, the Australian Transgender Support Association of Queensland is for people who seek social, emotional and moral support. Formed more than 10 years ago, ATSAQ provides support and information of all aspects of gender reassignment and for those who are experiencing difficulties with their gender identity.
It has monthly newsletter updates and luncheons for trans* as well as their family members and friends.
Transcendence

Transcendence is a support group that gathers every month, providing an opportunity for trans* people to gather with loved ones and fellow trans* persons.
It is a social and emotional support group for trans* and gender diverse individuals. They meet on the last Thursday of every month.
Transcendence is organised through Relationships Australia’s Rainbow Program.

Open Doors Youth Service provides counselling and support services for LGBTI young people aged 12-24 and their families, operating in Fortitude Valley.
Open Doors aims to build resilience in young people with diverse genders and/or sexualities through facilitating opportunities to receive support that meets their identified needs.
